What is a Bazi chart?
A Bazi chart, also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a map of the cosmic energies present at the moment of your birth, drawn from the traditional Chinese calendar. Each of the four pillars — year, month, day, and hour — pairs one of ten Heavenly Stems with one of twelve Earthly Branches, giving eight characters in total (bazi literally means “eight characters”). Every character carries one of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water, in a yin or yang polarity. The year pillar follows the solar year beginning at Li Chun (around February 4), the month pillar follows the solar terms, the day pillar follows a continuous 60-day cycle unbroken for millennia, and the hour pillar divides the day into twelve two-hour blocks. Read together, the eight characters describe your elemental constitution — the raw material of a destiny reading.
What does your Day Master mean for money?
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your day pillar, and it represents you in the chart — every other character is read in relation to it. For wealth analysis, two things matter most. First, its element defines your wealth element: in Bazi, wealth is the element your Day Master controls, so a Wood Day Master treats Earth as wealth, Fire treats Metal, Earth treats Water, Metal treats Wood, and Water treats Fire. Second, its strength decides how much wealth the chart can carry: a strong Day Master can command abundant wealth stars and act on opportunity directly, while a gentle Day Master prospers through allies, teams, and systems that share the load. Strength is judged by season of birth and by how many supporting characters — the same element and the element that creates it — appear among your eight characters.
What are Wealth Stars in Bazi?
Wealth stars are the characters in your chart that carry your wealth element — the element your Day Master controls. Bazi distinguishes Direct Wealth, the same element in opposite polarity, which classically points to salary, stable business income, and money earned through consistent effort, from Indirect Wealth, the same polarity, which points to windfalls, ventures, investments, and opportunistic gains. The number and position of wealth stars shape a chart’s money story: stars in the month or day pillar act early and personally, while stars in the year pillar often describe family resources or a wealth theme that matures with time. Many visible wealth stars make money a central life theme, but only a sufficiently strong Day Master can hold them; few visible stars often mean wealth arrives through hidden channels — skill, knowledge, and reputation converting to income.
How accurate is this calculator?
This free calculator computes your Four Pillars with the standard rules used in classical Bazi: the solar year beginning at Li Chun, solar-term months with the Five Tigers stem formula, the verified continuous 60-day cycle for the day pillar, and the Five Rats formula for the hour pillar. Month boundaries use standard solar-term dates, so a birth within a day of a term boundary can shift by one month — the My Astro Finance app computes exact solar terms, adds your 10-year Luck Pillars and hidden stems, and interprets the whole chart with AI alongside numerology and Western astrology. Bazi is a traditional interpretive framework: use it for reflection and timing awareness, for entertainment and education — not as a substitute for professional financial advice.
